平等機會：不能因為「你是誰」而被差別對待
去面試時，被問「妳打算什麼時候生小孩？」；租房子時，房東一聽口音就說房間已經租出去了。在英國，這些都可能構成違法的歧視。
英國的法律保障每個人在生活和工作的各個方面，都不會因為下面這些原因受到不公平的對待：
年齡（age）
身心障礙（disability）
性別（sex）
懷孕與產假（pregnancy and maternity）
種族（race）
宗教或信仰（religion or belief）
性傾向（sexual orientation）
婚姻狀況（marital status）
